The problem

A previous owner had rolled garage paint straight over a sealed, troweled slab. It was peeling in sheets under the tires, and oil staining had soaked in at the center bay. The homeowner had already booked a polyaspartic flake installer whose data sheet called for CSP 2–3 on bare, dry concrete.

Scope of work

Mechanical removal of the failed paint film and underlying sealer back to bare concrete
Degreasing and grinding out oil-contaminated concrete at the center bay
Profiling the full 620 sq ft to CSP 3 per the coating data sheet
Hand-grinding the perimeter, apron, and door threshold so the profile ran wall to wall
Opening and cleaning two control joints and a hairline crack for the installer to treat
Final vacuum and moisture spot-check before handoff

Equipment used

20" planetary grinder with dust shroud
PCD tooling for the paint film, then 30/40 grit metal bond for profiling
Shrouded edging grinder for perimeter, apron, and threshold
HEPA dust extractor with pre-separator
Crack chase blade and joint vacuum

The result

Bare, dry, uniformly profiled slab delivered in one day with the perimeter fully ground. The flake installer coated the next morning and confirmed the profile matched spec — and since we don't sell coatings, the homeowner got a straight answer on what the slab needed rather than a coating pitch.
