The problem

A retail space turning over between tenants had vinyl composition tile over cutback in the sales floor and thinset from an older ceramic install in the back-of-house. The GC had eleven days before the flooring installer mobilized, and the new glue-down LVP required a clean, flat slab with no residual adhesive.

Removal of VCT residue, cutback adhesive, and thinset across 3,400 sq ft
Testing of the black cutback for asbestos before any grinding — cleared by the GC's report
Flattening high spots and old patch material across the sales floor
Detail work at column bases, the stockroom threshold, and fitting-room framing
Dust containment at the demised wall and storefront with negative air
Handoff report on flatness and two areas of surface cracking

Equipment used

30" walk-behind grinder for the open sales floor
PCD and soft-bond tooling matched to cutback versus thinset

The result

Slab cleared, flattened, and vacuumed in three working days, seven days ahead of the flooring mobilization. The GC used the flatness report to add a small leveler scope in two low areas rather than discovering them on install day.
